SUBJECT: COORDINATION PROCEDURES

PURPOSE: This letter of agreement establishes standard procedures for coordination of air traffic between Los Angeles Center (ZLA) and Salt Lake City Center (ZLC).

CANCELLATION: All previous agreements are cancelled.

SCOPE: The provision and procedures contained herein are supplemental to those contained in FAA Order 7110.65 and VATSIM/VATUSA policies/procedures.

PROCEDURES: Unless otherwise coordinated, the following procedures shall apply:

1. General Procedures:

a. Minimum radar separation required by each facility is 5 nautical miles (NM), constant or increasing.

b. Either Center may assign inappropriate altitude for direction of flight (IADOF) provided specific verbal approval is obtained from the receiving Center prior to handoff.

c. A radar handoff and communications transfer constitutes transfer of control for turns up to 20 degrees and transponder code change without coordination.

d. Each Center shall advise the other at the time Center sectors are combined or separated.

2. Arrival Procedures:

a. Either Center may at its discretion provide direct routing to RNAV or GPS-equipped aircraft with destinations in the receiving Center’s airspace, but no further than a transition point on a published STAR. For airports that are not served with a published STAR direct routing may be applied to a NAVAID nearest to the destination airport.

i. ZLC may provide direct routing to:

1. Brackett (POC), Chino (CNO), Corona (AJO), El Monte (EMT), Ontario (ONT), Riverside (RAL), and San Bernardino (SBD) arrivals: HEC VORTAC (ZIGGY STAR);

2. Fullerton (FUL), Long Beach (LGB), Orange County (SNA), and Torrance (TOA) arrivals: HEC VORTAC (KAYOH STAR);

3. Los Angeles (LAX) arrivals: HEC VORTAC (in anticipation for BASET, MITTS, and RDEYE STARs);

4. San Diego (SAN) arrivals: TNP VORTAC (BARET STAR);

5. Bob Hope (BUR) and Van Nuys (VNY) arrivals: DAG VORTAC (LYNXX STAR).

b. Unless otherwise coordinated, ZLA:

i. Shall descend SLC arrivals to at or below (AOB) FL330 before entering ZLC airspace.

ii. Shall route all SLC arrivals via the JAMMN arrival.

iii. Shall descend all CDC arrivals at or above (AOA) FL230 to AOB FL230 descending to 15,000 feet before entering ZLC airspace.

c. Unless otherwise coordinated, ZLC:

i. Shall route Las Vegas McCarran turbojet arrivals at or above FL240 as follows:

1. RNAV aircraft (aircraft with /E, /F, /G, /R, or /Q equipment suffix) via the GRNPA arrival. Aircraft may be routed direct KSINO then the arrival without coordination.

2. Non-RNAV (aircraft with /A or /W equipment suffix) aircraft via the LUXOR arrival.

ii. Shall descend LAS arrivals to AOB FL320 before entering ZLA airspace.

iii. Shall descend PHX arrivals to AOB FL330 before entering ZLA airspace.

iv. Shall descend SGU and AZC arrivals AOA FL230 to AOB FL230 descending to 16,000 feet MSL before entering ZLA airspace.
