Charlie hails all the way from Chicago, IL where he worked as a Tower controller at the virtual Chicago ARTCC. After the FAA furloughed him "just cause", he desperately needed to find work to offset the expenses from eating cans of 25¢ Meijer Spaghetti Hoops and reading FAA TPP booklets for fun. and accepted a position as a floor sweeper during Noise Abatement hours at LAX. In the early morning hours of July 7, 2008 while "DK" was on duty pushing crushed beer cans into a pile at the LAX Cab, everyone on duty decided to hit up White Castle, which left him by himself in the lonely cab, but not alone at the airport, as 3 aircraft were lined up for 6L and a long line of departures waiting short of 25L. Out of compassion for the pilots, Donkey Kong stepped up to the mic and worked traffic that morning.
As it turned out, it was nothing more than a prank. After Shawn "Shawn Goldworthy" Goldsworthy observed DK mumbling "Turnnn left heading 140, runway 9R, clearrr... [unintelligible] while waxing the floors, Sir Goldsy, PhD, @eastlink.ca thought it was time to give him a turn at the console. Not knowing his previous VATSIM ATC experience, SX signed off Donkey Kong, and let him control, leaving NM to pick up his own mess in the cab.
When Charlie is not controlling, you will likely find him at a friend's house or at the controls of an MD-80 as he has quite a passion for the airframe and any DC jet in general. Charlie is a Freshman in High school.
